Dietze Inc., our predecessor, was founded in 1923 by Mr. A. E. Dietze, grandfather of its owner, Mr. David L. Dietze. An original tenant of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, the company moved to Connecticut in 1982. Since its inception, Dietze has been engaged in ship agency work, inland barging, dry cargo and vegoil chartering as well as ship sales/purchase and product and bunker brokering.

In September of 1996, three brokers, Dwight Annesley, Arthur Pattison and Herlof Sorensen, purchased Dietze Inc. from David Dietze. It was then renamed Dietze & Associates, L.L.C. and has successfully continued since.

On January 1, 2006, another chapter in Dietze history was started when Arthur Pattison retired as a member and was replaced by new members Michael Jedlicka, Dave McCann and Paul Schwack. On June 30, 2006, Dwight Annesley, Managing Member retired, leaving Herlof Sorensen, the remaining original member, as Managing Member.

Presently, we concentrate solely on foreign tanker chartering, ship projects and all services related to these activities. We employ a total of 10 brokers involved in in-depth coverage of the international market for oil transportation.

These brokers make up our foreign tanker chartering department and are an excellent combination of marine academy graduates and those with major oil company and shipping company backgrounds, thus providing a vast amount of expertise in this area. Complementing our brokers is an operations staff with a combined market experience of over 40 years to follow up on our fixtures from date of fixing until voyage/documents are completed.

Dietze & Associates, L.L.C. enjoys a close working relationship with most of the independents and majors as well as trading companies, owners, and worldwide brokers.

We were one of the first U.S. brokerage houses to attain ISO certification (currently ISO 9001:2000) and we belong to both ASBA and the ASBA Tanker Broker Panel. Additionally, a Dietze representative is on the Board of Directors of the Worldscale Association which calculates base rates for voyage charters worldwide.
